Heather Lende Biography

Heather Lende lives in Haines, Alaska with her husband Chip Lende. They have five children. Her essays and commentary have been on NPR and in the Christian Science Monitor, Alaska Magazine and The New York Times. (Well, once.) For ten years she has written a weekly column about life in Haines for the Anchorage Daily News, and she has been writing the obituaries for the Chilkat Valley News for longer than that. She is also on the boards of the Haines Borough Public Library and Hospice of Haines and coaches the Haines High School cross-country running team.
